Carrie McCrossen was born in Rochester, NY. As a member of the Eastman Bach Children’s Choir, she appeared in concert with
the Rochester Philharmonic and onstage with the Rochester Opera Theatre.
During high school, Carrie was presented the first ever “Rochester Area Stars of Tomorrow” Best Actress award. She also received honorable mention from the National Foundation for the Advancement of the Arts and was a finalist in the Eastman School of Music’s Devarian competition for female vocalists. She appeared onstage in the touring production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and also in Geva Theatre’s A Christmas Carol. Carrie was the valedictorian of her high school class and received a full academic scholarship to Fordham University, where she majored in Theatre and History. In the Fordham blackbox, she appeared as Julie in Miss Julie and as Lysistrata in Women of Athens, a new musical. On the mainstage, she appeared in The Tempest, Romeo and Juliet, and City of Angels. At Fordham, Carrie developed an interest in dramaturgy and began to work with emerging playwrights and directors. Her thesis in Medieval Theatre was presented her senior year. It included an advanced dramaturgical analysis of 12th century religious plays. Upon graduation, Carrie has appeared in several original plays and musicals around the off-off broadway scene. She regularly appears in readings of new work and continues to work with playwrights as a freelance dramaturg. She belongs to the following theatre companies; The Live Project and Theatre of the Sincere. |
